A Hatful of Rain

A rare piece of surviving artwork (16"x 19 1/2" overall) by the artist Tom Beauvais for the wartime drama "A Hatful of Rain" (1957). The film recounted the story of a Korean War verteran who returns to his family addicted to morphine & the artwork pictures a wrought scene between Don Murray & Eva Marie Saint. Tom Beauvais is perhaps best known for his posters for "Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid" (1969), "Mad Max" (1979), "Zombie Flesh Eaters" (1980) & "Fantastic Voyage" (1966) but very little of his work has survived or ever appeared in the market.

Please note that the artwork of the figures is a painted cut-out & has been affixed to a red card backing. This is the finished artwork for both the UK Quad & Double-Crown posters (images courtesy of Ebay & Propstore.com respectively). The artwork is gouache on card.
