Around The World in 80 Days Poster

Perhaps overlooked these days but "Around The World in 80 Days" was a massive commercial & critical hit when released in 1956. Based on the Jules Verne novel, the film was a massive undertaking, shot in over 100 different locations & boasting an incredible cast (cameos abounded). Elizabeth Taylor's husband Mike Todd produced the movie, sadly dying in a plane crash in 1958. The film was rewarded with 8 Oscar nominations, winning 5, including the most prestigious, "Best Picture".

Such was the success & popularity of the film that it enjoyed a global full budget re-release in 1968 & this poster is for the '68 release. As can be seen, the film was put out as a stand-alone feature (not twinned as a double-bill) & new artwork was commissioned. The Quad poster is based on the '68 US 1-sheet design (see image below courtesy of emovieposter.com) & credited to the artist Deschamps (?), a fine piece of work with cartoon type illustration.

The poster has slight staining to bottom outer white rim but overall remains in excellent condition. A scarce 60's poster & arguably better graphics than those of the '56 original release.
