Blazing A Trail To The Stars Poster

UK Quad poster for the Russian film about space exploration & travel "Blazing A Trail To The Stars" (1957). This is a genuinely rare Quad poster (we have never seen another). It was released in the Soviet Union in 1957 as "Doroga K Zvezdem" and a year later in the West.

The film came on the back of the successful first satellite orbiting of the Earth by the Soviets on 4th Oct 1957 via "Sputnik 1". This event was a huge propaganda coup for the Russians & heralded the beginning of the "Space Race" between the USSR & USA. "Blazing A Trail To The Stars" was released in Russia just one month after the Sputnik 1 mission. Although now well regarded by scifi enthusiasts, the print run for this foreign sub-titled film was tiny & surviving examples of Western posters are hardly ever seen.

The poster has a couple of small conservation repairs to reverse. There is slight "print-run" from the poster being machine-folded before the ink was properly set but this is minor. There is the merest hint of "bleed-through" from the reverse (just above the astronaut bottom left) but this is negligible. Overall the poster remains in very good condition with colours bold & vibrant. A rare Quad title & an early piece of original "Space Race" memorabilia.
