Clockwork Orange Poster

Suitably disturbing design by Philip Castle (one of the pioneers of air-brush painting) on this evocative 1970's poster. The early 1970's witnessed a slew of boundary pushing films ("The Exorcist", "Last Tango In Paris" etc) & "Clockwork Orange" was no exception. However, the furore surrounding "Clockwork Orange" was special & after several "copy-cat" violent assaults, Kubrick (who lived in the UK), started receiving death threats! After a limited West End release, cuts to the film were demanded. Kubrick refused to let his film be butchered & as a consequence "Clockwork Orange" never received a general release in the UK. For this reason, original "Clockwork Orange" Quad posters are genuinely scarce (beware smaller sized repros & the 2000 re-release poster).

This particular poster remains in very nice unrestored condition. There is some minor creasing & some ballpoint pen writing to the reverse which does not show through. Given the preominantly white background, it is extremely difficult to find this title in such clean condition as this example. As an idea of relative value (at the time of listing), a comparable poster is on offer for £1,500.
