Invasion Quartet Poster

A typical British comedy poster from 1961 (artwork possibly by John Stockle). The film pitched a group of soldier misfits who take on the job of destroying a German super-gun "Big Hermann" in occupied France! Critics thought the film was a deliberate satire of the big budget "Guns of Navarone" (1961).

War themed comdedy films were extremely popular at the time, the proximity to the war & involvement of much of the male population in National Service (it ended in 1960 but conscripts were still in service till 1963), making all things military a common & easily identifiable theme to be exploited. This is not an easy Quad to find.

The poster has minor rim damage, fold-line wear & there is some biro writing to the reverse but this is barely noticeable to the front (see the "A" in "Invasion").
