The Servant Poster

A scarce Quad poster with a really stylish design for this Losey masterpiece. With a Harold Pinter script, a John Dankworth soundtrack and a top-class cast, this was a classy affair. The film tells the story of an insidious manservant (Bogarde) who comes to corrupt and dominate the household of a young man (Fox). When Fox's girlfriend (Wendy Craig) wises up to the scheme, Bogarde installs his girlfriend (Sarah Miles) and encourages her to sleep with Fox, further extending his influence and control over the young man. The homosexual sub-plot did not go un-noticed and garnered the film a cache of notoriety in the strait-laced times of 1963.

The artwork to the right hand side was by Rosemary Pryor. The silver salver to the left was borrowed from a local jewellers close to the design studio where this poster was created.

The poster has tape marks to 3 corners, a small area of paper loss to lower left rim As the poster has only been lightly folded it will be sent rolled in a tube.*
