XIVth Olympiad The Glory Of Sport Poster

A rare linen-backed poster for "XIVth Olympiad - The Glory Of Sport", the documentary film about the 1948 London Olympics. This was the first Olympics since the 1936 Berlin Olympics, the hiatus due to WWII. Britain was still enduring rationing in 1948 & no new venues were built, the Games being dubbed the "Austerity Games" (though the documentary was actually filmed in colour). As both Germany and Japan were still under Allied military occupation, they did not participate. Few of these posters have ever appeared in the market.

Linen-backed with extensive restoration to tears and areas of paper loss (right hand corner) but this restoration carried out sympathetically and the poster now presents to very good effect. This is a rare cinema poster in any condition and an early piece of original Olympics memorabilia too.
