Zulu Poster

An original first release UK Quad cinema poster for "Zulu" (1964), the poster presenting the film title "African style", below which the battle of Rorke's drift rages.

Made in S.Africa (though still some distance from the actual battleground), producer (& star) Stanley Baker drafted in members of the S. African army & real Zulus as extras. Although a potentially volatile mix during the period of apartheid, Baker insisted on equitable treatment for all, even though they camped apart. "Zulu" was also noteworthy for providing a breakthrough role for Michael Caine, the casting of the cockney bit-part player as the upper crust Lt. Bromhead, being a stroke of genius (after 7 years of small TV/film roles, Caine's next role after "Zulu" was to star in "The Ipcress File", 1965).

The poster has a couple of tape marks to rim, minor paper loss to top right corner, pin-holes to edges, several small surface marks and a tear measuring approx 2" to the very centre but as can be seen this poster still displays to excellent effect.
